Study in Slovenia
Europe & Schengen · 87 institutions
Education
A small, entirely Bologna-aligned system where degrees carry across the EU without further recognition. Logistics and supply chain is the national speciality, built around the port at Koper and taught seriously at Maribor; business informatics, data science and tourism follow. The state subsidises student meals through the national voucher scheme, and international students qualify for it alongside everyone else.
Living there
Small, green and very safe — two million people, forests over half the country, and the Alps and the Adriatic both within two hours. Slovene is the official language but English is widely spoken among students. Living costs are lower than Austria or Italy next door.

7 institutions/programmes verified in detail
Individually checked against each institution’s own official page (or the Ministry’s current enrolment calls) on 23 September 2026 — several partner-supplied figures and programme names turned out to be wrong, already closed, or to blend two separate institutions together. One partner-sheet entry (“Hisa Jezikov”) was dropped entirely after an exhaustive check found no trace of it in any Slovenian education register.
University of Maribor
Closed for non-EU applicantsMaribor
Faculty of Economics and Business: Bachelor's/Master's in Economic and Business Sciences (with English-taught specialisations). Faculty of Logistics (Celje): System Logistics, Economic and Technical Logistics. Faculty of Tourism (Brežice): Contemporary Tourism Practices (BA), Tourism Destinations and Experiences (MA).
Tuition: Faculty of Economics and Business: Bachelor's €2,950, Master's €3,330. Faculty of Logistics: €3,950 flat. Faculty of Tourism: BA €4,500, MA €4,900.
Application fee: Not published on official pages — unconfirmed, not shown as fact
Admission: Non-EU round closed 3–4 September 2026 — 2027/28 cycle not yet published
The vendor's tuition figures were overstated across the board (roughly 50% too high at the Faculty of Economics and Business), and “Logistics and Supply Chain Management” isn't a real programme name — the Faculty of Logistics actually offers System Logistics and Economic and Technical Logistics.
Faculty of Information Studies (FIS), University of Novo Mesto
Closed for non-EU applicantsNovo Mesto
Bachelor's in Business Management in a Digital Society. Master's in Law and Leadership in Digital Society, Business Informatics, Data Sciences, Cyber Security.
Tuition: Domestic/EU rate published (Cyber Security €3,800, Data Sciences €3,100, Business Informatics & Law and Leadership ~€3,300) — FIS states foreign-student tuition follows a separate regulation, so a non-EU-specific figure is unconfirmed
Application fee: Not published — unconfirmed
Admission: Bachelor's deadline was 27 August 2026, Master's 13 September 2026 — both passed. 2027/28 cycle not yet published.
Now a faculty of the newly public University of Novo Mesto (since 1 July 2026), not an independent private institution — and the vendor’s stated deadline (30 July 2026) was already the wrong date even before the real cycle closed.
Fakulteta za uporabne družbene študije (FUDŠ / School of Advanced Social Studies)
Bachelor's closed; Master's open a few more daysNova Gorica
Bachelor's in Social Management. Master's in Intercultural Management, Strategic Communication, Psychosocial Counselling.
Tuition: Social Management BA €2,930/yr; Intercultural Management MA €2,930/yr; Strategic Communication MA €3,240/yr; Psychosocial Counselling MA €4,010/yr (2026/27 paying track)
Application fee: Not published as €350 — unconfirmed
Admission: Bachelor's final round closed 23–24 September 2026. Master's final round runs 15–25 September 2026.
The vendor's 2025 fees were listed as “yet to be finalised for 2026” — 2026/27 fees are now published and slightly higher than quoted.
Grm Novo mesto – vocational college (Višja strokovna šola)
Full-time closed; part-time still openNovo Mesto
Gostinstvo in turizem (Hospitality & Tourism), Naravovarstvo (Nature Conservation), Upravljanje podeželja in krajine (Rural & Landscape Management) — 2-year non-Bologna diplomas
Tuition: Not found on an official current price list — unconfirmed
Application fee: Not published as €350 — unconfirmed
Admission: Slovenia's higher-vocational system runs a national calendar — the 2nd/final full-time round closed 27 August 2026; part-time (izredni) enrolment remains open through 9 October 2026.
The vendor's single “GRM Novo Mesto” listing actually blends two separate legal entities sharing this campus name — this is the 2-year vocational-diploma one. See the separate Rural Management Bachelor's entry below for the other.
Rural Management (formerly Visoka šola za upravljanje podeželja Grm Novo mesto), University of Novo Mesto
Contact institution directly to confirm current cycleNovo Mesto
Bachelor's in Upravljanje podeželja (Rural Management), 3 years / 180 ECTS — the only programme this school offers
Tuition: Not found on an official page for this specific programme — unconfirmed
Application fee: Not published — unconfirmed
Admission: Exact 2026/27 deadline not found on an official page this pass — verify directly before advising a student
The vendor's programme name (“Business Management for Landscape, Tourism and Logistics”) doesn't match this school's real programme or subject — the only programme offered is Rural Management, unrelated to logistics. Now a faculty of the newly public University of Novo Mesto (since 16 July 2026), not an independent institution. English instruction is only offered part-time “if at least 10 enrolments occur” — not guaranteed.
Prah IC – Višja strokovna šola Rogaška Slatina
Full-time closed; part-time still openRogaška Slatina
2-year diploma in Logistics Engineering (Logistično inženirstvo) — awards a "Logistics Engineer VI/1" diploma, 120 ECTS
Tuition: Not found on an official current price list — unconfirmed
Application fee: Not published as €350 — unconfirmed
Admission: National 2nd/final full-time round closed 27 August 2026; part-time (izredni) enrolment remains open through 9 October 2026.
“2-Year Diploma in Business Management” does not exist under that name — Prah's real second programme is “Ekonomist” (Economist), not Business Management. Logistics Engineering requires B2-level Slovene; no evidence of English-taught instruction.
AREMA – Visoka šola za regionalni management
OpenRogaška Slatina
B.Sc. Management transportne logistike (Management of Transport Logistics), 3 years / 180 ECTS, first-cycle professional degree
Tuition: ~€2,600/yr tuition, €250 enrolment fee, €100 admin fee — from AREMA’s own 2024/25 price list; no 2026/27-specific figure found, treat as last-confirmed rather than current-year-confirmed
Application fee: Included in the enrolment/admin fees above — not a separate €350 charge
Admission: Third non-EU round runs 24–25 September 2026 — closing within a day or two, confirm directly before advising a student
English-taught instruction is not confirmed on any official AREMA page — do not assume English-medium delivery without direct confirmation from the school.
Slovenia’s national residence-permit process
Every institution above sets its own admission requirements and tuition — the process below is separate and national, the same whichever institution a student is admitted to.
The national residence-permit process, step by step
- 1
Apply to an institution and get admitted
Apply directly — Slovenia has no single national application system. Entry requirements, English-medium availability and tuition vary by institution; only 7 have been individually verified on this site so far.
- 2
Receive your confirmation of enrolment
The institution issues an admission/enrolment confirmation once you are admitted — required for the residence-permit application.
- 3
Show funds — pegged to Slovenia’s statutory minimum income
Benchmarked to the "basic amount of minimum income" (€494.09/month as of March 2025, re-indexed periodically — reconfirm close to application time). A parental affidavit of support is explicitly accepted as valid proof for students.
- 4
Arrange health insurance
Cover at least emergency medical services in Slovenia — a required document unless you are already mandatorily insured domestically.
- 5
Apply for the temporary residence permit for study
For most first-time applicants this is filed directly at a Slovenian embassy or consulate abroad (for India, the Embassy in New Delhi) — €102 if filed at a consulate abroad, €50 if filed at an administrative unit inside Slovenia. A separate D visa (€77) is a distinct, narrower product used in some other circumstances, not the standard student route. A criminal record certificate from the home country is required for first-time applications.
- 6
Permit granted, then travel
Once the permit is issued you can travel to Slovenia. Renewal after arrival is filed within Slovenia at the local administrative unit, a simpler process than the first application.
Residence-permit fee & funds
These figures are the national residence-permit fee and funds requirement, set by Slovenia's immigration authorities — separate from whatever each institution charges in tuition and application fees, which are listed per institution above. Work during study is legally permitted subject to a labour-market clearance from the Employment Service of Slovenia (no official weekly-hour cap could be confirmed). A 9-month post-study job-seeker permit exists in law for graduates of Slovenian higher education.
