South Korea’s D-2 / D-4 visa process
Every institution above sets its own admission requirements and tuition — the visa below is a separate, national process set by Korean embassies and consulates.
The D-2 / D-4 visa process, step by step
- 1
Apply to an institution and get admitted
Apply directly — South Korea has no single national application portal. Entry requirements, English- or Korean-medium programme availability and tuition vary by institution; 15 business/management-focused universities have verified detail on this site so far.
- 2
Receive your Certificate of Admission
The institution issues a Certificate of Admission (and, for accredited institutions, an accompanying Confirmation of Visa Issuance number in many cases) once you are formally admitted — required for the visa application.
- 3
Show funds — USD 15,000 for capital-region universities, USD 13,000 for local-region universities
For Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD applicants (Embassy of the Republic of Korea, UK). Funds must have been held in the account for at least 1 month, and the bank statement cannot be issued more than 2 weeks before the visa application — internet-banking printouts, ATM receipts and mini-statements are not accepted. Exchange and short-term students (under 12 months) show funds covering the full cost of their stay instead.
- 4
Gather supporting documents
Passport (6+ months validity), a recent passport photo, the Certificate of Admission, transcripts/certificates from your previous school, the institution’s own Business Registration Certificate, and the bank statement above. Requirements can vary slightly by the embassy or consulate you apply through.
- 5
Apply for the D-2 (degree) or D-4 (language course) visa
Submitted at a Korean embassy or consulate, in cash for the visa fee. The fee itself is not fixed globally — it varies by applicant nationality under bilateral reciprocity arrangements, so it is not shown here as one number; confirm the exact fee with the embassy or consulate you will apply through.
- 6
Visa granted, then travel and register
Typical processing is around 4 working days once a complete application is lodged (no express service). After arrival, register your Alien Registration Card (ARC) with immigration within 90 days.
Funds required (D-2, degree study)
The funds figures above are the national D-2 requirement set by Korean embassies — separate from whatever each institution charges in tuition and application fees, which have not yet been individually verified for these institutions (see the file header).
